A Poppy
A Poppy

Location:
St Peter and St Paul Church is at the junction of Medina Road and Old Wymering Road, a mile west of Cosham High Street. The part of the cemetery that contains all the war graves is directly opposite the church on the corner of Cow Lane.

Historical Information:
The church is one of the oldest in Portsmouth, it's construction having begun around 1180. The original graveyard surrounded the church but the land was limited so it spread onto a site opposite the church on the other side of Medina Road.

The War Graves
There are 15 men and women whose graves are maintained by the Commonwealth War Graves Commission buried in the cemetery. There are 2 from the First World War and 13 from World War Two. The CWGC has recorded a Grave Reference Number for only one grave, but the locations of the graves are shown on the Cemetery Burial Plan (see left).
