Further Information
Captain Charles Mayson Montcrieff Wright, after thirty three years afloat, reached Post rank, in days when to be a good first Lieutenant was to be far from promotion. He was severely wounded (1819) in the Persian Gulf when attacking the pirates at Ras-al-Khyma, their headquarters, and also was greatly distinguished (1832) while suppressing piracy in the straits of Malacca.
Lieutenant Edmund Dirke Wright, led the forlorn hope at the taking of Bhurtpore in 1826, when he was severely wounded in the arm and hand.
