Further Information
This much travelled memorial stone was originally set into a brick gatepost at the entrance to Fort Cumberland which is 1km east of the museum. It guards the entrance to Langstone Harbour. At some later stage it was moved to The Royal Marines Museum where it was set into a wall to the East of what is now the Memorial Garden. It was moved yet again when the garden was set up to it's present location. In 2004 it was decided that a copy of the original memorial should once again be raised at Fort Cumberland. It was dedicated on 18th July, 2004.
