The date of death for Charles William Bevis on this plaque is incorrect. The Portsmouth Cemetery Manager has confirmed that Bevis was buried at Milton Cemetery (Plot F, Row No.10 and Grave No.8) on 9th April 1927. A search of the Births, Marriages and Deaths Register showed that he died at the end of March 1927.
His wife Florence died on 28th May 1936 and was buried at Milton Cemetery (Plot F, Row No.10 and Grave No.9) on 30th May 1936. In her will she directed her executors to erect the plaque using text that she had written herself. The true date of death for Charles William Bevis was established by a visit to the grave on which is recorded "....died 5th April 1927".
