The memorial is sited at the west end of the north wall in the nave. It is badly eroded and barely legible.

LIEUT. WILLIAM GRANT,
WHO, AFTER A SERVICE OF NEARLY 60 YEARS,
DIED ON THE 30TH SEPTEMBER 1806,
TOWN-MAJOR OF THIS GARRISON
IN THE 79TH YEAR OFF HIS AGE,
AND ON THE ANNIVERSARY OF THE DAY ON WHICH
HE VERY HONOURABLY DISTINGUISHED HIMSELF
AT THE BATTLE OF BUCKER-MUHL, IN GERMANY
IN THE YEAR 1762.
HE WAS A BRAVE SOLDIER AND,
IN HIS CHARACTER AS A MAN, STRENGTH OF MIND,
PROBITY AND BENEVOLENCE WERE UNITED
