Further Information
William Pike was a highly successful brewer and owner of a large number of public houses in Portsmouth. He joined forces with David Spicer to form the Pike, Spicer Brewery. William married Ann in 1715 and by all accounts she was a shrewd and well-informed woman. They had two daughters, Susannah, who married John Carter and Ann who married Thomas Bonham. When the Bonham line died out the Carters took on his name and thereby founded the well known dynasty of the Bonham-Carters.
See the History in Portsmouth website for more about the Pike Spicer Brewery and the family.
