Further Information
The inscription is carved into the side of the Firewatchers Desk which is a plain, open oak desk, usually used for the display of leaflets.
It is quite amazing that whilst the nearby Naval Dockyard suffered 67 air-raids the Cathedral itself survived unscathed.
