Further Information
The loss of H.M.S. Victoria was one of the most tragic events in the history of the Royal Navy, given that it was entirely self-inflicted. There is an important memorial to the whole crew in Victoria Park in the centre of Portsmouth. Go to the Memorial to H.M.S. Victoria for a full account of the loss.
