Further Information
The 1873 Guide to the Church refers to a window in the south wall of the nave, the second from the west end, which was dedicated to Major Thomas Oldfield. It does not quote an inscription but mentions that he died at the siege of Acre. It also says "No hero whose name is found in this church deserved better a noble memorial than the gallant officer Major Thomas Oldfield R.M. to whose memory this window is dedicated....."
