Location

According to the 1873 Guide to the Church this memorial was originally sited in the North Transept, an area now largely occupied by the organ. It is believed that the memorial remains in situ behind the organ.

IN MEMORY OF COLONEL ROBERT MONCRIEFF, FORMERLY COMMANDANT OF THE PORTSMOUTH DIVISION OF ROYAL MARINES, IN WHICH CORPS, FOR A PERIOD EXCEEDING 50 YEARS, HE WAS DISTINGUISHED BY VALOUR AND ENERGY IN SERVICE AND BY A HIGH SENSE OF HONOUR AND JUSTICE IN COMMAND. DIED 24TH JANUARY 1844 AGED 86 YEARS
