The memorial is located on the east wall of the Quire, east of the Corporation Pew (see Cathedral Plan).

It is bronze on marble 535mm high x 1930mms wide.

IN LOVING MEMORY OF THE SECOND SON OF WILLIAM LIONEL AND MARION AMY WYLLIE, WILLIAM THOMAS WYLLIE 2nd DURHAM LIGHT INFANTRY KILLED IN ACTION AT MONTAUBAN ON THE 19th JULY 1916 WHILST ACTING AS BRIGADE MAJOR AND BURIED IN MAMETZ CEMETERY HE LEAVES A WIDOW AND THREE CHILDREN.

Further Information
W.T.Wyllie died during the Battle of the Somme which commenced 1st July 1916. His regiment was part of the 18th Brigade of the 6th Division. He is buried in DANTZIG ALLEY BRITISH CEMETERY, MAMETZ, SOMME IN grave VIII.F.9. for further details of the cemetery search under his name at www.cwgc.org
 
W.L.Wyllie 1851-1931, his father, was a famous marine artist. His work is now known worldwide.
 
Elsewhere in the Cathedral is a memorial to his brother R.T.M.Wyllie.
